You love writing. You have always wanted to start on a longer project (like a novel, for example) but have not managed to get it done for one reason or another. You are interested into working on a new story and developing on all those ideas that have been circling in your mind. No matter which one of these applies to you, or if it’s all of them and more, you should check NaNoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) out as it might turn out to be just the right move for you.

At this point you might begin to wonder what NaNoWrimo is. What it does is provide you with the amazing opportunity of sharing your writing with others and concentrating on finishing that first draft of yours with the positive side of having a deadline. Your final goal is having 50 000 words written and it's up to you how you will divide your time. Initiating the planning of your novel during October also contributes to your fruitful November month where you could update your word count daily and earn numerous achievements for being devoted to what you love doing.

In addition, even if you are facing a writer’s block, knowing that you have the whole month to defeat it would motivate you enough to keep on going and to discover a solution. Even for those of us who are procrastinating on a regular basis, this November contest grants us the mercy of a deadline. Being a procrastinator myself, there is nothing that could really push me towards exceeding beyond my limits in terms of getting my current task done on time than the ticking sound of an approaching deadline .

Over the past few years my best friend (who is also the one to tell me about NaNoWriMo) has suggested that I participated but I always seemed to come up with a reason as to why I wouldn’t do it. This time, however, I consider it as a way to both relax from a busy day and to also motivate myself even more to get back to writing more seriously. Plus, I am certain it would be fun to follow other people’s progress and to chat with them in the website’s forum. Anyway, I am most certainly going to draw inspiration from my bestie who has been loyal to NaNoWrimo for as long as I have known her and who is not only going to be a commited writer throughout this month but who has also managed to win it once as well. Additional information about her experience about it, you could find on her page.

In conclusion, if you love writing or have a friend who does, don’t hesitate to look the website up. Regardless of whether you would participate just to win, or if you simply want to start on your project and finish it, or if you just want to make yourself write daily, then you should embrace that challenge and devote your free time to it. Let the writer within you hold the reigns for a while. Make your November count.
