Now that the summer is here and that the whole holiday period is approaching, it might be time to consider our holiday destinations. I have gathered nine places that are suitable for travellers to visit during the hot season. Surely, there are so many more that you could set your mind on, but these below are on my personal list (some of them I have even managed to visit myself). So this time, my post will be more like a picturesque collection of destinations - more images than words, so just keep scrolling! You will see for yourself which place would be the perfect for you.

1) Vienna

Even though I have never been there myself, I have been told a lot about the beauty of the capital of Austria. It has been one of my top destination since I was a student in highschool, learning German as my first language. Having been shown pictures of the Schönbrunn Palace, I am quite certain that I would love to visit it and to explore this city as much as I possibly could. This destination would be suitable for those of you who are not so eager to relax on the beach the whole day, but rather for those willing to do some sightseeing and set their gaze on as many views as possible.

2) Dubrovnik

Located in Croatia, Dubrovnik presents us with the opportunity to what looks like an ancient fairytale setting (to me at least, judging by the photographs). Not far from it, in Montenegro is the town of Budva which also reveals its views to the curious tourist. In addition, about 6 kilometres awat is the small island, called Saint Stefan, which is also a hotel. Those destinations are preferrably best to be combined and are again aimed at those kinds of tourists ready to do some walking around.

3) Sinaia

This might not be the most popular destination, but the Peleș Castle near Sinaia in Romania definitely seems worth the visit to me. If you are a fantasy fan and you enjoy writing, you might even get some ideas about how to make your castle look stunning (without stealing the whole image of course). Also, given that you will be in Romania, you could stop by the Dracula Castle and find out if there are some vampires still roaming around the lands. Jokes aside, visiting Romania is quite affordable. Accommodation and food are not expensive, so therefore you could probably be able to afford some longer road tripping time.

4) Malmö

Well, this one is where half of my heart belongs. Given that I have been a student in Sweden, I have grown attached to everything that this city has to offer. The beach, of course, is my weak spot. You can always go there to relax and to sunbathe (especially during the summer). The parks are also quite clean and huge, all of them providing areas where you can have a nice picnic with friends. You can walk around the main street and cross some bridges over tha canal, meanwhile being able to capture some excellent pictures. If you want to visit any place in Sweden, I definitely recommend doing it during the summer. The days are long and you can do a lot of everything. At the very least, you can combine both walking around the centre, and relaxing by going to the beach.

5) Copenhagen

Hence, we come to the capital of Denmark. Only about 20 minute ride away from Malmö, Copenhagen reveals its beauty to the eye of the visitors. On the train, you get to cross Öresund Bridge which connects the two cities together and makes it easily accessible to people to go either of the two ways. The water is all around which brings to some more spectacular views and there you can also walk towards the statue of The Little Mermaid. The colourful houses warm your heart just by looking at them and the wind, sometimes tender, sometimes rather violent, is also a pleasant addition to the experience.

6) Bruges and Ghent

Both of these cities are located in Belgium and they seem so peaceful that I would love to spend a few days roaming around their streets. It just feels like that would make me feel like I am a part of a much quieter and calmer world, where you can just discover new hidden places to find your solitude and new beauty to store in your memory.

7) Amalfi Coast

If you are looking for your next dreamlike vacation, then the Amalfi Coast is probably going to be the right choice for you. The coastline is located in Southern Italy and it definitely scores at the top of my list for real vacation time. Capri Island is nearby and in my opinion is also a worthy place for the perfect holiday, away from the polluted cities and from the crowded streets of capital cities.

8) Santorini

Continuing with the perfect for a relaxing holiday types of destinations, we come to Santorini. I think it would be hard for any list of top places to visit not to include this Greek island. Unfortunately, I haven't been there but I doubt that anyone who has, would ever say anything against it. It might be a bit expensive, but we don't visit that kind of places on a regular basis so I believe it deserves putting some savings aside so that one day we could get to visit it.

9) Rila Mountain

Finally, we come down to home. I mentioned both some sightseeing destinations and some perfect for relaxation places. However, I wanted to include something from my own country, Bulgaria, in this list given the fact how magnificent its nature is. So, this type of holiday that I mention here includes some hiking during the summer in the Bulgarian mountain, Rila, and visiting the 7 Rila Lakes. Of course, you can combine your visit to Bulgaria with multiple other destinations but my recommendation is not to miss out on the opportunity to see the lakes. I promise you they will leave you breathless.

Which one of the places did you like the most? Are there any destinations you would like to include in the list? Feel free to share them in a comment below.
